FAQ Talent

Does the Agency represent clients from outside of Hollywood South?

No. NOVA:The New Orleans Voice-over Agency sets out to promote the wealth of talent resident in the region known as Hollywood South - Mississippi and Louisiana - which is also the area covered by the regional chapter of SAG-AFTRA.

Does NOVA: charge any fees to be a member?

Absolutely none. We charge only an agreed agency commission for any assignment you undertake through NOVA: or for assignments you ask us to handle on your behalf.

Do I have to be a union member to become a Member of NOVA?

No. NOVA: is open to both union and non-union members. Union members are signified in red on the "demos" web-pages on the Agency's web-site.

Do I have to take an audition to become a Member?

The agency handles only the crème de la crème of voice talent. We require you to supply a professionally-produced demo in mp3 format approx 60 seconds in length (max. 1:30) for review and subsequent upload onto the Agency's web-site.

 

IMPORTANT: Please do not submit a demo of poor recording or production quality and please do not submit a demo if you do not have continuous access to recording and production facilities. If you would like assistance in having a demo produced, please contact NOVA or our sister company Stephen James Media Productions, who can also provide coaching towards your demo production.

How do I submit my demo to join NOVA:?

Just email your demo, in mp3 fomat and preferably of 60 seconds duration to Actorschoicetalentagency@gmail.com Please do not send links. Please also attach your resume and (not essential) your head-shot in jpeg format. Please note: it is not possible for you to upload your demo yourself.

 

Your demo should be submitted directly from you. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ANY DEMO ON BEHALF OF A THIRD PARTY, NOR HAVE A THIRD PARTY SUBMIT ON YOUR BEHALF.

What if I don't have a demo? Do I have to get one made via the Agency?

No. This is a free market economy and you are free to have your demo produced wherever you wish. We recommend that you do not produce your own demo. However, and only if you wish, you may choose to have your demo produced via our sister company Stephen James Media Productions, and with support of professional coaching by the Agency's principal, Stephen James, a trained educator, and an award-winning voice coach and voice-over talent.

Can I upload my own demo to the NOVA:The New Orleans Voice-over Agency website?

No. We accept only the best-quality talent and with the best-quality demos. You should submit your demo or updated demo to the Agency via Actorschoicetalentagency@gmail.com for review. Subject to approval we will then upload your demo or updated demo for you. Please also submit a recent head-shot.

If I join NOVA:The NEW ORLEANS Voice-over Agency, will I be free to be registered with any other agency?

Yes. We want to encourage you to find work and to develop your success. NOVA: is a non-exclusive agency, which means that you are free to be registered with any other agency you wish, subject to that agency's terms and conditions.

 

(Some agencies stipulate exclusivity - NOVA:The New Orleans Voice-over Agency is a non-exclusive agency.)

What if I find work for myself?

We encourage you to seek work through any avenue, whether you use any of the online auditioning services or through your own marketing, and NOVA:The New Orleans Voice-over Agency does not expect commission from those efforts, of course, unless you ask us to handle a specific assignment on your behalf (recommended*).

 

However, if you find work for an existing or former client of NOVA, or receive a recommendation from an existing or former Agency Member, then a commission would be payable to NOVA.

 

*It is highly recommended that you book some self-sought assignments through the agency so that you have the support of the agency and its legal department in negotiating your assignment, length and terms of contract, etc. As a matter of professionalism, you are advised always to state NOVA:The New Orleans Voice-over Agency and our telephone number (504-355-9673) on your business stationery and all marketing material.

Does the Agency act as my business manager?

No: NOVA:The New Orleans Voice-over Agency acts on your behalf as your agent, not your manager. NOVA:The New Orleans Voice-over Agency is a non-exclusive agency, so you own your voice-over business. Never hold back in marketing and promoting yourself and your business. Unless you wish the Agency to help you in handling a specific client or assignment, you own 100% of the revenues you bring in for yourself.
